Sam's got Wheels!

Today was a great day for our niece Sammi! She got her new Jeep Cherokee today and is headed back to Utah with a huge smile and a rockin' new CD/MP3 player! She is going to be a huge success and is on her way to making everyone very proud of her. Next time you are in Eden Valley, be sure to wave when you see the Red Hot Chili Pepper Jeep.

Hey Nineteen

A very nice day with lots of fresh snow. The entire mountain was open for the first time this year. One of the best runs of the day was the couloir pictured here. I outlined the route in the picture. It was fun to see only my tracks on the way back up the mountain. The holiday crowds were something I won't miss next week.

A creative parking shot attached from earlier this week.

Santa brought Snow!

A quick post to let you know how grateful I am for all the gifts, especially the fresh Snow Santa left behind for us. Tomorrow (Thursday 29th of December) should be the best day of the year. If you need me, I can be found on Lincoln or Disney most anytime tomorrow.

Day 18

The first official day of fresh powder. It's snowed most of the night and all day leaving about 36" of fresh for us to play in. Brenda, Jason, Dan and myself had a great day floating in the powder today.

Christmas Fun

Brenda, Gloria, Sammi, Jason, Josh, Austin, Dave and I went out for some tubing fun at Northstar. A snow ball fight ensued with the chair lift riders that were knocking snow down off their skiis and boards to the people below. Being Christmas we had to share some "gifts" with them as well and about 20 people began launching a snowball assault on the chair lift riders above. It was total comedy.

David ran into a "special friend" he met the other night. Don't ask, don't tell.

Merry Xmas Kettle Bells

Day 17: An overdue and needed storm is heading in, Wahoo! 1/2 a dozen runs on an empty mountain just as the storm was rolling in was a great way to start Christmas.

I arrived home just in time to see Brenda heading out for a run and Jason doing his Kettle Bell workout. Kettle Bells are pretty hard core, check out this Pistol Squat!

Sun Burn Sixteen

Can you add Coppertone spf 35 to my Christmas list? Attention Washington residents: The glowing orb in the sky is called the "Sun", see it really does exist in the winter.

A dozen runs on Sugarbowl's new "Slushie" machine run and a balmy ride down Old Hwy 40 inspired me to head out on a dual sport ride.

A 46* day and a ride up Cold Stream Canyon made for a fun afternoon adventure.

One Five

After all the rain last night day fifteen brought beautiful sunny skies and warm temps. It looks like a week from tomorrow before we see a cold storm, at least the holiday crowds aren't getting skiing out all the good snow. Today was fast with a hard frozen top layer from all the rain, a leg burner day. The view of the lake and valley was spectacular today, it will be great to ski home some day this year. In the mean time my Yellow chair lift is doing a great job getting me up and down the mountain.

Spring has sprung (3 months early?)

Thursday brought heavy rain all day! The little creek down the street has turned into a raging river. The creek drops a few hundred feet in a ver short distance so the speed and volume are really impressive. Temps have been in the high 40's. Please cancel my previous Xmas wish list and tell Santa to bring cold, dry Snow!

Feet Wet One Four

The storm door is officially open and it brought the Pineapple Express with it. Snow levels are North of 8K, bummer. We could be buried right now but instead will be looking for Hip Boots this week. Grabed a handfull of runs today, still a great time but the fresh Pow would be much better.

Lucky #13

Today was the first day of the holiday crowds. I have officially become a mid week snob. The lift lines, on slope crowds and limited runs are making me long for the empty mid week mountain. Today was spent dodging human obstacles and bashing the lift lines "Euro Style", all I am missing are the cigarettes and I would officially be "Euro Trash".

The Twelve Days of Christmas

Day 12 brought snow, only above 8,000' :-( Hit the slopes anyway and busted out a bunch of runs. The conditions were somewhere between whipped cream and Cream cheese. There was no one on the mountain so top to bottom rippers were the order of the day. Empty chairlifts made for some lounge time between runs.

My friend Merit is thinking about getting these new boards to rip it up this year. Apparently Picabo Street is running these and they are the talk of the town.

Day 11

A big winter storm is moving through the Sierras, hallelujah! Classic Sierra cement (peanut butter like consistency) best describe the conditions.
Are quick route via Old Hwy 40 was closed for the first time today. The detour made for a wonderful 45 minute bumper to bumper ride home.

Diez Dias Muchachita's

1/10th of the way there. It's snowing today. We are expecting 2' by Sunday night and it looks like Wednesday will puke up another dumping of fresh Pow! Soon this fancy snow making machine will be on a well deserved vacation. Hopefully after this pumeling we will be able to take full advantage of all the great runs on this trail map.

Niner

Jerome Hill Express opens and the new run is a welcomed addition. This old weathered Bristlecone Pine is a reminder of how tough the weather can get on Donner Summit

Sprechen de Deutsche? Sugarbowl's old gondola had this German warning placard. 705lbs max. Caution: My calculations have 4 average American burger loving fatso's (see self) tipping the scales at well over 705lbs.

Post skiing took us to the Grass Valley for Cornish Christmas with Jim, Tracy, Austin, Dave, Libbey, Chris, Alexa and Afro boy. Always a fun time.

Ocho

The snow making is keeping my quest alive. A new run opened today and the grooming is making for some great top to bottom skiing. The new Scrambler Hot's are so much fun!

Have you ever heard "No doesn't always mean No"... I heard the same about "Stop"

In case your at Sugarbowl and need a ride to Reno or Sac it's about a 15' drop to this free ride. Bring a jacket.

Check out my $3600 ride to the slopes parked next to the $63,000 ride. My back seat is much roomier don't ya think?

Back on the slopes today!

Tatum & Bryn

No skiing the last four days while we were in Seattle visiting Tatum & Bryn. Take a look at the beautiful signs they made to welcome us :-)

Day 6

The best day yet. First day on the new Scrambler Hot's. Spectcular ski, rides like a 250F!
